Xena: Warrior Podcast is a weekly show where three film school grads (Vera, Katie, and Livy) over-analyze the Hades out of Xena: Warrior Princess

We love our TV criticism, but we've noticed that while critics credit other ‘90s shows like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and The X-Files with important innovations that laid the groundwork for TV’s Golden Age, they fail to give the same consideration to Xena. With a reboot currently in development,  it’s more important now than ever to give the original show its due, and that’s where we come in.  On our podcast, we’ll be exploring the many ways that Xena pushed the medium forward: longform storytelling, formal and tonal experimentation, fandom development and fan interaction with the producers, representation and celebration of marginalized identities, you name it Xena was doing it! If you already love Xena, rewatch along with us, and if you’ve never seen the show, what are you waiting for? Prepare to experience the power, the passion, the podcast!

VERA is technically a Rusky, having been born in a land far, far away. There were only two television stations! (The horror!) But in America, the streets aren't only paved with cheese, there are lots and LOTS of channels on the TV! So she learned to speak English by watching Star Trek: TNG and re-runs of The Brady Bunch, and that's how she fell in love with that square (now more rectangle-ish) container with the talking pictures. She has a BFA in Film & Television Production from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts and gold star in Professional Fangirlism. She works in post-production as an editor and loves to contribute to fandom via transformative works such as fanvids, fanmixes, and fan...Opinion Having. Her likes include: whiskey, ancient Greek helmets, and puppies. Dislikes: shipping wars and the patriarchy.

LIVY didn’t watch any TV as a kid other than The Simpsons and Home Improvement. She occasionally tuned in for episodes of Hercules, but decided Xena looked ‘too adult,’ little did she know. She has a BFA in Film & Television Production from NYU and pays her rent via freelance videography and editing, but her real passion is writing. She is hard at work on her first novel, and has racked up 250,000+ words of fanfiction on the side. Likes: cannibalism (not as weird as it sounds), mac & cheese, singing off-key.

KATIE has a BFA in Cinema Studies from NYU, an MA in Media Studies from The New School, and a career in cable TV, making her somewhat qualified to wax poetic on the internet about her favorite things, such as ancient Greek warriors, time travel shenanigans, space rebels, and horror movies. She’s a media critic who’s overabundance of feelings and opinions regarding fictional goings on often find relief in transformative works (vidding, fanfiction, fanmixes, etc.). You're most likely to find her hiding her face behind a pillow, masking tears shed for tragic OTPS. She would have watched Xena a lot sooner if someone had told her it's the greatest love story ever told. #regrets
